State Comptroller opens audit of government decisions on Ethiopian Jewish aliyah
On February 10, 2026, State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman announced before the Knesset's State Control Committee his intention to open a new audit.
What's being examined
The audit will address the implementation of government decisions regarding the aliyah of the remaining Ethiopian Jewish community and "Zera Israel" to Israel. This follows the State Comptroller's Office's ongoing tracking of government handling of Ethiopian Jewish aliyah.
Connection to a previous report
The new audit connects to a previous State Comptroller report, published in July 2024, which addressed the integration of Ethiopian-Israelis in local authorities.
Dedication
Englman dedicated his remarks at the committee to the memory of Sgt. Asi Sama, a soldier of Ethiopian descent who fell in the Iron Swords war.
