The exact family amounts for 2026: child allowance, birth grant and study grant — from the National Insurance circular

This is not an article about a new entitlement. It is an article about correct numbers, because every January the benefit amounts are updated and every year figures circulate online that are wrong by a few shekels — and a few shekels a month times a year is money.

We opened the source: the "January 2026 benefits update" circular of the research and planning administration of the National Insurance Institute, dated 30 December 2025, signed by Nitza Kasir, deputy director-general for research and planning.

How the amounts were updated

The basic amounts under paragraphs (1) to (3) rose by 2.4%, tracking the consumer price index (November 2025 against November 2024).
The basic amount under paragraph (4), for general disability benefit and the benefits derived from it, tracks the average wage and rose by 3.4%.

Child allowance — monthly amounts

Per the definition of the "basic amount" under paragraph (2) in the circular:

₪173 for the first child, and for the fifth child onward.
₪219 for the second, third and fourth child.
₪162 for the purposes of a benefit under the Income Support Law, or the family supplement for income-support recipients.

Benefit supplement for a family with at least three children entitled to income support or alimony payments: ₪113 for a family with three children, ₪226 for a family with four or more.

Birth grant

First child: ₪2,103 (was ₪2,054).
Second child: ₪946 (was ₪924).
Third child onward: ₪631 (was ₪616).
Birth of two children: ₪10,514 (was ₪10,268).

Study grant

For a child aged 6 and under 18: ₪1,204 (was ₪1,176).

Long-term savings for a child

Basic savings: ₪58 a month (was ₪57). Additional savings: ₪58.
Age-three grant and bar/bat mitzvah-age grant, for children born from 1 January 2017: ₪291 each (were ₪284).
Age-18 grant for children born before 1 January 2017, and the age-21 grant: ₪582 each (were ₪568).

What to know before you calculate

Child allowance is paid automatically — no application. The birth grant is paid via the hospital.
The study grant is not automatic for everyone. It is paid to families meeting certain conditions (single parents and recipients of certain benefits, for instance). If you are unsure whether it arrived, that is a question for your branch.
The amounts here are the basic amounts in the circular. What reaches your account depends on the number of children, family composition and other entitlements. Do not plan from a number in an article — check your personal account on the National Insurance site.
